Upward Bound Math & Science Center

Palau Community College was awarded an Upward Bound Math and Science Center (UBMS) to serve 50 local participants. Emphasis is placed on a Six Week Summer Component with a core curriculum in Mathematics and Sciences.

* PostSecondary Exposure/Admission Assistance
* Campus Visitations/Career Advisement
* TOEFL and ACT/SAT Review

SIX WEEK SUMMER COMPONENT

* Tutoring Services
* Educational/Cultural Enrichment Activities
* Recreational Activities
* End of Summer Banquet

ELIGIBILITY
To receive services, students must meet one or more of the following criteria:

* Palauan citizen or eligible noncitizen.
* Potential first generation college student.
* Income-eligible individuals based on taxable family income.
* Demonstrated need for academic support and services.
* Enrolled in the 9th, thru 11th grade and college bound.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
* Actively participate in the Center's activities until they graduate.
* Meet monthly with academic advisor.
* Keep staff informed of academic progress with grade reports.
* Enroll in a college or university upon graduation.
* Communicate with UBMS Center regarding progress in College.

PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure fulfillment of all student responsibilities by their enrolled child.
* Communicate regularly with UBMS staff regarding child's progress.
* Actively participate in the Parent Meetings and/or committees.
