A program for selected College Bound High School Students (9th - 12th grades) to help prepare them to enter and succeed in a Postsecondary Education Program. A program for selected college bound high school students (9th to 12th grades) to help strengthen their math and science skills. The program goal is to h elp the participants recognize and develop their potential to excel in Math & Science and encourage them to pursue post-secondary degrees in the fields of math and science. STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (PROJECT BEACON) Student Support Services is one of the federal programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is operating under Student Services. It was established to give support to students who want to utilize their full potential but are having difficulty in doing so. The Student Support Services staff are concerned not only with each student's academic progress, but also with that student as an individual. Through this program, each student receives assistance and encouragement that will enable him/her to be successful at Palau Community College. The components of the program are tutoring, counseling, and cultural activities.The Educational Talent Search program is one of the four branches of the TRIO Program, a US Department of Education program, being hosted by Palau Community College for five years, from SY 2002 to 2007. The program seeks to meet the learning needs of eligible students from the sixth through the twelfth grade so that they will succeed in achieving a high school diploma and continue on to a postsecondary program. |
