More Show Support for Thanksgiving Fundraising

Continental Micronesia, PNCC, Computers Plus, Duty-Free Shoppers Palau, Emaimelei Restaurant and Kumangai Bakery, and Sarah's Yum Yum Bar & Grill Restaurant has joined others from the corporate community in pledging their support for the upcoming PCC Thanksgiving fundraiser which will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

Visiting the campus earlier this week, Marino Ngemaes who is the Palau Manager for Continental Micronesia personally delivered the donation of (2) roundtrip tickets to the choice destinations of Guam and Philippines on Continental Airlines. The roundtrip tickets will be raffled off as giveaway prizes during the fundraising event.

Another devoted contributor to the fundraising event is Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC). Gloria K. Sengebau, PNCC Sales Manager personally delivered their donation of gift certificates for (5) Nokia mobile handset with sim package and (10) wireless airtime prepaid cards.

Computers Plus also showed its support and donated a laptop and a printer following Duty-Free Shoppers Palau (DFS-Palau) which donated $500 dollars to the Endowment Thanksgiving Fundraising.

Emaimelei Restaurant and Kumangai Bakery also demonstrated their commit- ment and friendship with the College by donating (4) lunch/dinner gift certificates as well as (2) cake gift certificates to be

PCC President Dr. Patrick U. Tellei recognizes and thanks all contributors to date and further asks the rest of the community for their support.

SBA Changes Name to ASPCC

This year's Student Senate under the leadership of President Takeo, Vice President Kebou, Secretary Lirow, and Treasurer Henry finally took upon itself the challenge to have the students' organization adopt its new name.

Ever since the beginning of this Fall Semester 2007, the student senate has worked hard and finally adopted a Resolution No. 03-2007 to have the organization's name changed to Associated Students of Palau Community College (ASPCC). The resolution was

With this new students' organization name, Associated Students of Palau Community College, the ASPCC would like to thank certain individuals, particularly Classified Staff Organization (CSO) President Ephraim Ngirachitei and Director Deikola Olikong who contributed their ideas, research, time, and effort in helping make this arduous task possible. Special thanks is also extended to Dean Marensia Edward for her guidance and leadership.

On other news, ASPCC President Takeo and Advisor Olikong would like to remind the entire student body that International Night Show has been confirmed and will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the PCC Cafeteria. All students are encouraged to participate in this ASPCC sponsored thanksgiving event.

Pohnpei Students Organization Holds Car Wash Fundraiser

Last Sunday afternoon, November 11th, the Pohnpei Students Organization held a car wash fundraising at PCC front parking lot to raise money for our organization's activities. With all the support that we received, we were able to raise over $200 dollars for the organization's activities.

Therefore, the Pohnpei Students Organization would like to thank President Dr. Patrick U. Tellei and VP Jay Olegeriil for letting us use the PCC front parking lot and providing what we needed for our fundraising. We would also like to thank all of you who supported us and brought in your cars. Our fundraising would not have been as successful without all of you.

Reminder for PCC Department Heads

Annual Reports Due Next Week...

In accordance with 22 PNCA, PCC is required to submit its Annual Report to the Board of Trustees by December 31st. All departments, divisions, and offices are hereby requested to begin compiling their respective reports, and submit them to the Development office by Tuesday, November 20th, 2007. Lucio N. Remoket of Koror State Government- Public Works

In our November 2nd, Volume 9 Issue 44, under heading: More Show Support to Endowment Fund, it was published that Lucio N. Remoket of Koror State Public Works enrolled as a new member of PCC Endowment Fund. However, we inadvertently put Lucio Rii's picture instead of Lucio N. Remoket. We sincerely apologize to Lucio N. Remoket for the error and any confusion this may have caused our readers. Thank you for your understanding. We also thank Rii for being a continuous supporter of the Endowment Fund and welcome Remoket as a new member.

Office of Admissions & Financial Aid to Participate in EDExpress Software Beta Test

The PCC Office of Admissions & Financial Aid has been selected to participate in the 2008-2009 EDExpress software, Release 1.0 Beta Test. EDExpress is a software provided and required by the U.S. Department of Education to be used by colleges and universities to process

financial aid applications, awards packaging, process Pell Grant report, etc.

The Director of Admissions & Financial Aid, Dahlia M. Katosang was assigned to do the testing for Palau Community College.

FSM Students Celebrate

st FSM Independence Day

The FSM Students enrolled at Palau Community College got together at Japan-Friendship Bridge (Airai Side) to celebrate their 21st FSM Independence Day. This celebration was held on Saturday, November 10, 2007. The FSM Students enrolled at PCC would like to take this moment to thank everyone who helped with our celebration.

First, we want to thank PCC President Dr. Patrick U. Tellei; Vice President, Jay Olegeriil; and Dean of Students, Marensia Edward for making this celebration possible. We thank President Tellei for providing cake for us on FSM Independence Day Celebration. We would also like to thank VP Jay Olegeriil for allowing us to use the PA system. Special thanks to the maintenance staff for assisting us and helping us during that day. We would also like to thank Counselor Hilda for providing

a keyboard for entertainment, cooler for drinks, and a Bar-B-Q grill. We also want to thank Dorm Manager Kasilda Bruno for providing ice-cubes for our drinks and Dorm Manager Ephraim Ngirachitei and Recreation Supervisor Ismael Anastacio for transporting us to JP Bridge.

Thomas Borja - 2003 PCC graduate with an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Liberal Arts (LA). Borja works at George B. Harris Elementary School as a Lab Manager. He has been working there for the past 2 months.

Class of 1998 (PCC)
Olivine Joseph - 1998 PCC graduate with an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Secretarial Science (SEC). Joseph works at George B. Harris Elementary School as a Teacher. She has been working there for the past 10 years.

Class of 1975 (MOC)
Grace Kladikm Rafael -
1975 MOC graduate with a Vocational Certificate of Achievement (VCA) in Secretarial Science (SEC). Rafael works at the Ministry of Health- Finance Department as a Collection Clerk and has been working there for the past 14 years.

Want to Join Westpoint Academy?

The Bureau of Domestic Affairs, Ministry of State, is now accepting nominations for young people to compete for an appointment to the prestigious Westpoint Academy.

Nominees must be 17 years old and not older than 23 years old by July 01, 2008.

Nominees must take either the SAT or ACT.  Test results must be received by April 1, 2008.  Nominees with SAT math scores below 560 will not be considered. 

All nominees should be aware and be prepared for the very disciplined environment of Westpoint Academy.  The nominees should also understand that this is first and foremost a military training institution.  Emphasis is placed not only on academics but also on military training and physical fitness training. 

Names, contact numbers, birth certificates, and school transcripts of interested individuals must be submitted to the Office of the Ministry of State to the attention of Eunice Akiwo or Clarissa Adelbai no later than November 28, 2007 (Wednesday) for formal submission.  Application packets will be sent subsequently.

Free Automobile Air Conditioner Check

The Automotive Air Conditioning class is offering free check-up, servicing, and repairing of automobile air conditioning. If you are having problems with your air conditioner, you can bring your car to PCC ACR department, located at Tekrar building, for proper check-up and repair. You can also contact instructor, Ramon C. Garcia or any of the following students- Fredrick Andrew, Kes Salvador, Jack Antonio, Antonio Fredrick, Carlwin Konou, Sureor Ngirailemesang, Toriil Renguul, and Jacques Stills for more information. This free check-up will start on November 19th and will end on November 30, 2007 from Monday to Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Materials should be provided by the owner. Bringing your car to the shop will strengthen the student's practical knowledge in troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing of automobile air conditioning.
