short and too few for these teachers to progress quickly enough towards the attainment of their degrees. With the Ministry of Education now requiring them to complete their degrees by the Summer of 2008, these teachers are hard-pressed to reach their goals. All of these teachers have been teaching in classrooms for a number of years ranging from two (2) years to fifteen (15) years. Those interviewed were seasoned teachers, some commute daily from Babeldaob, others relocate to Koror from the islands of Angaur, Beliliou, and Kayangel during the summer to live in Koror and attend classes. Even though they may seem older and not used to the life of an average college student, these teachers are applauded for their hard work in pursuing their degrees, which will ultimately benefit their students in their respective schools throughout Palau. |
