PCC held its annual meeting of bi-weekly donors to the PCC Endowment Fund on December 28, 2006 at the PCC Courtyard. The turnout for this once-a-year event was tremendous as over 100 plus people joined PCC in celebrating the dedication and support of so many donors who donate to the College on a weekly basis. During the event, bi-weekly donors were greeted by Dr. Patrick Tellei, PCC President, who thanked all the donors for supporting the College. Afterwards, donors were treated to a delicious lunch and raffle drawing with many of them leaving with wonderful prizes and smiles on their faces as the event was filled with cheer and warm laughter. This annual meeting hosted by the College is an opportunity for PCC to express its gratitude to all donors who have made

PCC Conducts Recruitment Drive
to Local High Schools

The PCC Recruitment Team launched its recruitment tour or visit to all the high schools in Palau during the month of December 2006. The recruitment team comprised of personnel from Admissions & Financial Aid and an Associate Dean from Academic Affairs. The purpose of the visit was to meet with seniors and discuss programs and services and distribute admissions application forms to prospective applicants. We then assisted interested students in completing their admissions application forms. Because of this, we were able to immediately collect a total of one hundred-fifty eight (158) applications for admissions during our recruitment visits. Therefore, 65% of the total seniors (244) from all the high schools in Palau have shown interest in attending PCC during the coming School Year 2007-2008. We will continue to contact those students who have not filled applications and encourage them to enroll at PCC. The table below displays a summary of the applicants from each high school within Palau.

To Err is Human...

In the December 22, 2006 issue of Mesekiu, there was an error on the Endowment Supporters section. It was stated that Ms. Peggy Hanser works at the Division of Job Placement, however, she currently works at Ngardmau State Government. Also, on the December 29, 2006 issue of Mesekiu, there was an error on the Alumni Section. Ms. Sorch Meyar did not graduate from PCC with a Certificate of Arts, but with a Certificate of Achievement in Criminal Justice.

such an incredible investment in the future of Palau's children. As of now there are over 1,000 bi-weekly donors who have collectively donated $110,753.25 to the PCC Endowment Fund for 2006. This is a very unique group of people and perhaps the biggest of its kind in Palau. As individuals, they donate a certain amount directly out of their paycheck to the PCC Endowment every two weeks. They do this because they believe that as the only institution of higher learning in Palau, PCC must receive the support from the community so that it can continue to provide for the educational and training needs of the nation and the surrounding region as well. PCC raffled away some wonderful prizes that had been donated by some very generous local corporate sponsors.

Endowment Members stand in line to submit their refund forms at the Endowment Party held on PCC Courtyard last week.

Some of the prizes that were given away included a Round trip ticket to Guam, an air conditioner, a DVD player, hotel getaways, cell phones, beauty packages, and much more. The Grand Prize Winner was Becheseldil Nakamura who won a round trip ticket to Guam donated by Continental Airlines and a $250 cash prize.
Palau Community College takes this opportunity to thank each and every one of our bi-weekly donors for showcasing your commitment to the cause of higher education, and making a difference in the development of Palau's most important resource, its students.

Bi-Weekly Donors Fill Your Forms To Get Your Refund!

All bi-weekly donors to the PCC Endowment Fund are reminded to come to PCC Development Office and complete their application packets, enabling them to get refunds for their donations. This reminder is for those who have not completed their packets.
