Dr. Purton arrived late last month and will be departing from the island later this month. Since his arrival, he has devoted some of his vacation time to help the college gather information for its upcoming Science, Technological, Engineering, and Mathematical (STEM) discipline program, particularly in the engineering area scheduled for Fall Semester 2007. Dr. Purton is researching and comparing the engineering programs of other neighboring universities such as University of Guam, University of Hawaii in Oahu and Hilo, and also Community Colleges in Seattle, San Diego, and Hilo just to name a few. He is concentrating on the engineering area because he thinks it will be most demanding. The College would like to thank Dr. Purton for taking some time off his vacation to help the College in its efforts to provide better and more services to its diverse student population.
