behalf of the Board of Trustees. In her address, Muller shared with the gathering the historical transformation that PCC has undergone from its beginning as a trade school to the current day Palau Community College. President Tellei also addressed the gathering of staff and students, telling them about his experience as a student at the college many years back, and his decision later on to return to his Alma-mater to assume the role of President. He also offered his gratitude to the US government for providing financial assistance, allowing students to afford a college education. He also recognized the support from the Palau government and leaders, saying that the college has been able to offer services in higher education to the students of Palau, Micronesia and the region because of such support. "Who are we!... What are we here for!... Kampare, kampare, kampare!..." These are a few of what the team cheer leaders shouted in the Micronesia All-Around march around the Palau National Track and Field. A sunny and cool breezy day, smiles, team spirits, chants, laughter, cooperation, and just about everything that took place made the day what it was - beautiful! Forget that the morning started out late. Look back to the goal that was achieved, FUN! Last Saturday, March 29th, the FSMSO took time to play some island games along with RMISO and ROPSO friends. Many thanks for joining the teams! So much went into the preparation of the occasion and if it weren't for the assistance and effort, the Micronesia All-Around would just be another regular Saturday at the dormitory. Thank you very much to everyone who came to cheer and to those who contributed fruits, game resources, and other miscellaneous items to the FSMSO's cultural holiday celebration: |

The day's festivities included dance performances by the various student groups that comprise the student body at PCC. Traditional and contemporary performances were performed by students from the state of Yap, Pohnpei, Chuuk, Kosrae, Palau and the Marshalls. Yap State student dancers received the most cash gifts from the audience who were impressed with their elaborate costumes and traditional stick dance performance. |

PCC Mesekiu Takes 2-0 Series Lead |
|
|
Resolving to not repeat last year's performance which saw the Mesekiu Baseball team take the pennant trophy and fall short of the championship title, the team, playing under their new theme of "Remember Last Year?", outplayed their opponent Kayangel Angels both offensively and defensively enroute to a 7-3 win in the first of the best-of-five series on Monday. The defending pennant winners displayed their potent offense, led by Dekei Ngiramengior's four-for-four performance. Defensively, it was last year's MVP Sureor Ngirailemesang who dominated the Angels, pitching a complete nine-inning game and earned a win with 10 strikeouts, 2 HPs, and allowed only 4 singles. PCC took a 3-0 lead in the second on singles by Kaleb Meltel and Sureor Ngirailemesang and 2-RBI double by Ty Saiske and an RBI single by Merei Ise. PCC scored two more in the sixth as they exploded for four singles by Saiske, Ngiramengior, Cleofas Iyar, and Kaleb Meltel, and a triple by Etitel Mad. In the seventh, PCC scored another run when Dexter Sadang doubled off the leftfield wall and was driven in by Mad. PCC's final score came in the eighth inning on Ngiramengior's single and another from Meltel. With Ngirailemesang in his MVP form, Kayangel Angels could only manage two runs, one in the sixth and in the eighth. Then on Wednesday, Mesekiu once again outplayed Kayangel Angels in the second game of the playoff series winning by a score of 6 1 and taking a commanding 2 to 0 lead in the best-of-five contest. The win gave PCC a perfect record of five wins this season against Kayangel Angels. Starting pitcher Ise pitched four complete innings, allowing one run while striking out two and allowing one walk. Coming in relief was Saiske who pitched the rest of the game with two strike outs and allowed two hits. |
PCC scored one in the second inning when Kalei Luii singled to reach first, stole second and third. Luii then scored when Ngirailemesang walked to first and engaged Kayangel in a run-down, allowing Luii to score. Kayangel scored one in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. PCC regained the lead in the third on singles by Mad and Iyar. PCC scored two more in the eighth, set up by a single by Ise, followed by a double by Ngirmengior and a single by Ngirailemesang. Mad scored PCC's final run in the ninth for the final score of 6-1. The third game of the series is tonight in which PCC will attempt to sweep the series and secure a spot in the championship series for the second year in a row.
